Okay.... My husband was away on a business trip last Thursday when the UPS guy showed up at my door with a familiar-looking big rectangular package, and I was wondering, what in the world is this.... I wasn't expecting any new guitars! I called my husband, and could almost hear him smiling over the phone, but he told me not to open the package until Saturday when he would be home (and that was within the 48-hour acclimatization rule anyway).... So I waited patiently, although extremely curious. On Saturday afternoon we opened the box and slid out a siver RIC re-issue case and popped it open.... Jetglo 4001v63! YOW! The mystery of the one that disappered a couple of weeks ago off eBay is solved!

But lest you think I am unfairly hoarding these beautiful rarities, let me tell the rest of the story.... My husband bought me a jetglo v63 off eBay about a year ago, and a few months ago I lent it to Bill, the bass player on our worship team. Well Bill has hopelessly fallen in love with it, and now he doesn't want to play anything else....and it sounds absolutely fabulous with the music we are doing on the team--he is a great bass player! He has offered to buy it from me several times, but understandably I've been very reluctant to sell it, and even more so after realizing how rare they are in jetglo....but my husband told him he would keep his eyes open for him, as he is always perusing eBay....although we never expected to see another jetglo one, and certainly not at a price comparable to what we paid for ours! When I saw that one had been up for a short while on eBay and then disappeared I was kind of bummed, but I didn't realize that it was my husband who had contacted the seller--he just loves to surprise me!

Anyway, we have one very happy bass player--I told him he could just buy the one that he has been playing--and now I will be able to play my own v63 whenever I want to again!

Also, I told Bill all about this site, and he seemed very interested, so he may be coming on board soon.... Now that he has his own Ric bass to love, he is eager to learn everything he can about them!

Any chance of duelling worshipful basses? You'll have to score us a bootleg if that happens!

And I thought I was bad about hoarding basses! Congrats on another addition to the family.

Hehe, that could be fun....though I think we'd have to save something like that for a youth night, as I don't think the older members of the congregation would be too thrilled about it!

That Christmas program must've been pretty awesome!! Just think, bells chiming from the steeple outside and RICS chiming from the inside....

Every Sunday morning is like that, and it gives me endless joy to use my favorite instruments in a worship setting. Our weekly rehearsals/jam sessions are the high point of the week for me.

get one more v63 bass and then you can play big bottom by spinal tap ... or maybe add a 4003s5 or a 4003s8

Congrats Mellisa. I feel only slightly better knowing that at least the one that got away is singing God's praise. I'm still on the eternal hunt for my own JG v63 and hope to add one to my stable soon.

Yep, the music we do is pretty cool.... We try to do a mix of modern praise and worship songs (some of them really rock!) and more traditional hymns (which also sound pretty upbeat played on the instruments we use), that way both younger and older generations can feel like they are participating in the worship experience--Believe me, if you haven't been in church for a long time you should give it a try again; church music ain't what it used to be as many churches are doing away with the organ and assembling praise bands.... and ours is one of the more conservative denominations! Though actually we still have an excellent organist, and as odd as it seems, she sounds great playing along with our ensemble of electronic keyboard, Ric electric guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar, bass, and drums, plus a very talented group of singers who regularly sing in four-part harmony!

We do a contemporary youth worship that literally rocks, every Sunday evening. SRV, Van Halen, Eagles, YES, Grand Funk, more, plus all the current christian rock and originals. We have our anual Easter concert coming up that features the band plus horns and strings; probably over 20 performers in all. Follow the link below for details. I'll be using my '77 4001 on several of the tunes. Sorry, my Jazz bass's (4&5) get most of the duty this year.

Wow Wes, I downloaded some of the MP3's from your site, and it sounds like you guys are really a tight act! We're definitely amateurs by comparison, but we do have a lot of fun praising the Lord together. One of our singers is a member of the local Lion's Club, and he was able to book a gig for our team at our town's annual "Fisherman's Picnic" festival next summer, when we will do praise music on the outdoor stage on Sunday morning, August 7th.... We are really looking forward to it as we get a chance to share the joy with the community, and people who may not ordinarily set foot inside a church.
