Here's a pic of the 1997 Fireglo Loredo I bought on ebay last week. White marks on edges are reflections, not chips. Only light scratches from picks near strings, otherwise it's in great shape.

Very nice. My wife says, "I usually don't like the guitars you show me, but this one's got chic." I take that as a "yes" to buying the next Fireglo Laredo on eBay.

Wow.... I've never seen a fireglo so dark around the edges.... that is very cool-looking.

Nice bass. My wife likes the fireglo bass I just piccked up. Guess the "chicks" like the hot stuff!

Striking. I like how the neck contrasts with the body and headstock. Paul, please comment on its playability and sound.

Only noodled around with it for an hour or so, and is sounds much like the Cheyenne, my main player. Action is a little lower due to a little "ski jump" on the neck of the Cheyenne (right at the point where the neck thickens to become the core of the body. I think the Cheyenne might be easier to play, though, as the neck and fingerboard are not clear coated. I like the necks -- really thin (frets to back) and a little wider than the typical 4003 design. I might engage Jeff's expertise and modify one or the other with his suggested replacement of the pickup switch with another volume control so it would be vol/vol/tone.
Another thing: The 4004 family (Loredo, Cheyenne, Cheyenne II) are lighter and more comfortable to "wear" than the 4001/4003 family. I kind wish there was a mute thingie on them, but am getting used to "palm muting" for extra thump.
