How long have you consecutively owned a Ric?

There are those who buy and sell on a regular basis, and there are those like myself who just don,t let anything go...I still only see myself as a long term custodian though...So, what,s the longest consecutive tenure you,ve owned a certain Ric? I,m sure there are owners here who have had a particular instrument for many years, and like myself, feel they probably will never part with it...I,ll start the ball rolling...I,ve had my bass since 81, now 23 consecutive years...

21 years now. My 1979 4080, which I bought used in November 1982. My November 1970 21 fret 4001 comes next - I bought it used (actually I'm the third owner) in December 1986.

I bought a 360 new in 60'.....44 years, 3 months.
Still have it.

After all these years it has never had a proper setup so I guess I'll take it to Soest or Lentz and get it done right.

18 years...
Bought a 1974 FG 4001 in 1986 at the tender old age of 16. I SO wanted to be Roger Glover!

Have since added 2 more Ricks to the arsenal.

360dave, your photos are interesting.... was the guitar originally fireglo? Also interesting that it only has one truss rod.... I love that beautiful natural maple.

I feel like I hardly have any business posting on this thread, as I got my first Ric a year and 9 months ago as an anniversary present from my husband--he didn't know it would turn me into a raving Ric fanatic! Let's just say I haven't done any needlework since that day....the Rics are a hobby that has changed my life!

I've got ya beat Melissa. . . my first and only rick arrived in October, 2003 after many years of drooling. I had seen an MG 330 in the window of the local guitar shop back in 1986 but of course could not afford it as a middle school student. After many misadventures and having lived in 5 different states and briefly in a foreign country, I now live 3 blocks from that store. Weird.

I'm sure it won;t be my last one.

"I'm sure it won't be my last one."

You've probably got that right, John. Once Ric addiction sets in, anything can happen, and you'll find yourself saying, "Just one more!" My collection is now up to 12.... I find that each one is a unique individual, and I use different guitars for different songs; some work better than others for playing leads vs. rhythm.... Of course my collection includes one bass and one acoustic--what Ric collection would be complete without those?

I've had my '67 4005 since '82, and a 2002 660/12 since Aug. 2003; had an '82 4003 (1992-2004), a 4001 (1972-1980). So, continuously, 22 years. I had planned a collecting/buying binge, but changed my mind. This is probably it.
