I just bougth a Cheyenne 1 for what I think was a nice price of $700. What a great Ric! Some of the best tone I've heard, light as a feather, and the most comfortable body I've felt on a Ric bass. This one was modded with a pickup pan in place of the selector switch. Make a number of great tones available to me. I am pleased!!

Great deal Tim! I'd be interested in knowing more about that pickup pan.

A pickup pan pot? This would consist of two volume pots in a stacked configuration and working in a similar way to the balance control on a stereo system amplifier, right? An interesting mod. And an interesting price, too! Do post some pics of your Cheyenne when you can, Tim.

I'll post pics as soon as I can. Sergio, I think you are making it sound more complex thn it is. It has three knobs - one pan, one volume, and one tone. The pan simply replaced the pickup selector swith. My farorite tones are just a little to the right and left of center on the pan.

Ughh...
I'm out the door. Sorry about the pics not showing up. For now cut and paste - I'll try to upload them later. Don't know why the html did not work to imbed the images in that last post..

That is the way the stereo balance controls work, there are two volume controls in one pot, one cuts as the other increases and in the middle they are equal, I'm sure a new one would work on that same principle. I like separate volumes better. They are more versatile, you can not keep one volume on full and decrease the other at the same time with a pan control, I had those on my Am. Fender jazz deluxes and didn't like them. And the sweet spot was too close to center and too touchy on them.
