Mr. Hall, is this for real? A custom, artist-owned RIC? I'd believe it...looks legit to me!

If I read the description correctly, it was made for RCA to present to the artist.

It's real, it was for sale last year and didn't sell, the reserve was somewhere around 2K.

From the earlier post "Ric built several special runs of guitars and basses for RCA Records Nashville. Each December they then presented them to their artists that had gone gold (or platinum, I forget) during the previous year.
The most famous instrument of this series went to Rocky Ryan, their president, who has a doubleneck 4004-650 left handed."

This bass should be known as "The Nipper Dog signature model" from this day on.

I'd probably go about half of that on this. The thing that bothers me is not the chrome but, the autograph.

Last summer I passed on a CS and waited for a v63 because I never liked signature models. Probably should have bought one and just changed the pickguard.

The signature would probably come off, it looks like a sharpie or magic marker.

What would I use? Sandpaper?

Seriously, how would you take that off without damaging the finish?

lighter fluid

If it's a oil finish, that would be easy. Just sand it off and apply oil.

Here is a link to a photo of a matching RCA 12 string model discussed before in another thread.

I think magic marker would sink into open wood, might be hard to get out. I had trouble with a white bass and a mapleglo with new shirts on hot nights, the dye from both sank into the basses.
