Hmmmmm......I thought I remembered this one going off on the 'bay a while back, but Miguel is right...I just noticed that part about the debris field....anyone else remember the details of that sale??

No but I'll bet that the parts are installed on a wannabe PT. It's odd that the certificate didn't go with the parts, but you could enlarge the photo and get the serial number, someday that guitar will appear.

I get the feeling that we're not getting the whole story here. As mentioned, the line about being unable to find the pickguard and jackplate seems a bit disingenuous. To be less tactful, I think it's BS.
As it sits, it's a busted 1997 that's worth about $50 (IMHO), or whatever the value of the salvagable used parts is. Even if the body/neck were intact, you're talking about several hundred dollars worth of parts (tailpiece, pickups, bridge) just to make it playable. This is without considering the cost of replacing the jackplate and truss rod cover, or a new case.
I can get a *very* nice 1997RI (including OHSC) locally for about $500 more than he wants for this trash heap. I pity the person that writes a triple-digit check for this pile of kindling.

Well, for those of you with spouses prone to violence, this would make a great "swap for the one you are really looking to smash" guitar. He's dreaming about the price though, I don't care what it was.

Headstock tells me that it was, indeed, a PT. I do remember the first auction for this sad remnant and the jackplate, cert, and serial plate were included. I e-mailed the guy and begged him not to sell it that way. No avail.
Now, recently, there was a cheap auction on a PT certificate that I tried to stop as well. No avail. I think it possible that this cat sold the goos for this to someone else, bought the cert from the other auction, and is trying to pass of the cert as the one that originally went with this guitar. It's not worth 1/10 of what he is asking. It doesn't even have the pickups. But it is, almost doubtless, a real PT.
