I pulled the trigger and ordered the Cheyenne II Blue Boy from Mike Parks. Very reasonable.

As Chris pointed out in other threads(see for sale threads) he's got some other cool stuff coming in like and MG4001v63 and a LS guitar.

He must be wheelin' and dealin" as initially I could get him on the phone it was so busy. Had to fax in my order and he called me back.

Hey Marc...

Did you breath a sigh of relief as you pressed the "send" button and visualized your order zipping through the phone line and finally printing into Mike's hand?......

I'm sorry Marc...I must have too much time on my hands.... ;)

So what did the Blue Boy end up costing?

To Kendell - $1395 plus $30 to ship. This is right in line with what other retailers would do.IMO very, very fair. The only reason I thought otherwise was because he doesn't discount other items like cases off of list.

And to Chris, I felt more secure when he called me and said he got the fax, and then lost that feeling when he said, "All we have to do now is wait".<g>

He also had me salivating when he told me that he had seen plenty of guitars in Blue Boy and knew the gold hardware would look awesome with it.But, do keep in mind that you won't see the beautiful wood grains with an opaque color.

It should be a fun bass.

Sounds like a good deal, I didn't eventhink about the gold hardware, that's gonna be sweet. So now the painful question, how long til delivery?

$1395????? We'd be paying more than that in POUNDS in the UK (so make it twice the price). There are some things about living here that really suck...you'll have to post pictures when you get it!

Kendall, I said to Mike that I'll probably have to wait until the end of the year. He said he thought it would be much sooner than that and that it seems folks are putting pressure for Rickenbacker to turn it up a notch.

You think it's the forum?

I'd love to work there. I live a few miles from the factory.

Quote from Shaun Elliot:

"$1395????? We'd be paying more than that in POUNDS in the UK (so make it twice the price). There are some things about living here that really suck."

Too true Shaun.
That price works out at £755.00!
Can you imagine picking up that bass for that price!
Double that and add some more and we're getting close to the sort of price we would pay for one of those.

If ever I go to the States, I'm bringing a couple of Rics back with me...getting them through customs without having to pay any charges is another matter though!

Isn't there a free trade zone agreement in the UK? Here (Israel) we don't pay customs on US made musical instruments, just the VAT (17%).

I'm afraid we pay customs alright, at something like (incl.VAT) 25%. And then there's shipping...actually I'm with Martin. I went to the States the tail end of last year with the intention of bringing something nice back; even found a V63 for around $1200 in Cowtown in Vegas, but I wasn't sure about the fireglo (it was a little harsh; I prefer the darker ones), and then I got distracted by an Alembic Triple Omega(which prompted me to order one when I got home). I now wish I'd bought the V63 as well, given how tough it is to find one these days. But next time, something is coming back....and I reckon it'll be Rick shaped.

We have a similar arrangement in Canada. There is no duty but by the time you add exchange, shipping, brokerage, and 15% on the exchange it is a tidy sum!

Cheyenne II blue boy sounds cool. If your ordering it new, opt for the vintage gold TRC. It would really be unique.
