Does anyone have resource for Rickenbacker amp parts? I need the power transistors for a TR-35B.
Motorola 2N5991 and Motorola 2N5988.
Any help is most appreciated.

Robin....you can use a NTE182 in place of the 2N5991 and a NTE183 in place of the 2N5988.
NTE is a large semiconductor mfg. Go here...

http://www.nteinc.com/

Click 'cross-reference' and put your Motorola numbers in and you can look at the data sheets..or, just go to an electronic store...not Radio Shack...and buy them.

Hey, Robin. Welcome to the Forum. I own a TR35B myself. Bought it used exactly a year ago. Where I live - Lisbon, Portugal (Europe) - Rickenbacker amplifiers are not exactly easy to come by. To me the TR35B, whilst not being the boomiest bass amplifier I've ever come across with, remains unsurpassed for 'sheer Rickenbacker tone quality'.

You may want to contacr Bob Rissi. He used to work for Rick and repairs these amps. You can contact hem at [email protected]
I have one of these amps. What were the symptoms of the transistors going bad, low volume and distortion? Hopefully I won't haveto go down this road.

Thanks to all of you for the help, 360dave's advice turned out to be a winner, I was able to find NTE 182 and 183 locally (in L.A.) and they
work great. I learned much about solid state trouble shooting along the way with this project.
Thanks again!

Glad it worked out Robin. The early bird gets the worm and you have to get up very early in the morning to get ahead of 360dave when it comes to trouble shooting vintage amplifiers.
