Does anyone know if Rickenbacker has any plans to
produce any 4001s-style basses any time soon, besides the c64.Unfortunatly when I decided I wanted a v63 they stopped making them.I'd settle for a 4003s but they stopped making them too, only
leaving the pricey reverse-headstock c64 option.

Now that the C is out looks like nothing like that will happen. I got a C64 and it is a great bass but it aint no V63...

I'd like to see the return of the 4003-S series. I like the simplicity of the dot fingergboard and unbound body.

I'd like to see the return of the checkerboard binding as an optional vintage upgrade like they do with the pickups and the knobs.
Probably impossible

IMHO,if they were to offer checkerboard binding as an option, they probably wouldn't have enough to fill the demand....I would think that's what most everyone would want...I know I would....

And me! And while we're at it, bring back the wide crushed pearl inlays; if the 4003 was available with a toaster, wide inlays and checked binding I'd be in like Flint...one in every colour (sigh)!

Okay....I need some clarification here on something. I'm well aware of the C64's cosmetic difference to the V63 but how can it be said that it is "no V63"? I don't get it. Aren't the rest of the parts and material specs the same as a C64?

Not realy. I put my V63 next to my C64 and there are so many things that are different from the cosmetic point of view and its sound. Examples? tuning machines, nut, trc, pickguard (you can actually see the route that it covers) and even the bridge... did I forget anything?

Yes. I forgot to correct my spelling mistakes...

Okay but you're talking cosmetically and when making a negative comparison between two similar Ricks the qualitative assessment should be playability and sound...IMHO.

It would figure that when I was ready to buy a 4001V63, they stopped making them. I would order a 4001V64 if it didn't have that upside down headstock.

I don't know why they had to discontinue the v63 when they started to make the c64.I'm sure someone from Rickenbacker could answer that question. But if they read this forum they must know Rickenbacker bass enthusiasts love the v63 and the simplified styling (and affordability) of the 4003s.MAKE IT.THEY WILL BUY IT.
