Just got back from a pawn shop and found what I believe to be a '74. I checked the jack plate and it has NC , but no number.....the plate doesn't appear to have been altered. I am a little hesitant to pursue it because of this. It is the aged fireglo that I so love and the binding has turned a bit creamy. It also has the old style trc that is screened from the back. Buckle rash, could use a REAL good cleaning, p/u cover gone, neck is quite nice. Asking $1,100.00 but the guy said he'd "settle" for $900.00
Back to the serial #.....is this unheard of for a real RIC to only have the date code on the jack plate???

Chris,
Does it appear that the numbers may have just worn off due to instrument cable near misses over the years? Now that I have seen many times over the years of looking at great vintage gear. Not really damaged or ground off per se but just worn off from all those near misses?

HAHA Jared!! I knew you'd come through!!
It may indeed have just worn off as it is pretty shiny....I'm pretty sure it is original....
I'm going back!

Settleng for $900 probably means that 8 brand new Benjamin's just might turn the trick of the Tale.

I'd go for it, I paid $1100.00 last year for my July '73 4001 with checker binding and toaster.

Yeah, snap it up now!
NC dates to March 1974.
Both my 1974 Jetglo 4001s (ND and NF) mean business - straight necks, hot (and balanced) high-gain pickups, easy-to-adjust bridges. Both have red side position dot markers (a 1974-only feature?), 'wavy' Grover tuners, 'squat' handrests and old-style TRCs.
'Do it', Chris.

After some serious research, I have decided to "do it" this Monday. I am pretty confident that I can get this for 8 bills....
Sergio, it does have the red side position dot markers on it and the "wavy" Grovers!
Thanks to all for the advice....
DONE!!

It's just a Kodak CX6200 , but it has fantastic software! $99.00.....
It's nothing special, but it sure beats my 8 year old Panasonic 300x digital Palmcorder with Photoshot!!
No more pink reds.....

You go Chris, especially for 8 bills. I had a '74 mapleglow that had a super thin neck and real fat tone that I would love to have back. I actually prefered it over the fireglow '72 that I had at the time.......actually, I wish I had them both back.
