My very first Ric

Hi guys, just a wee note to introduce myself. My name is Anndra, I'm from Argyll in Scotland and I've been playing bass since 1977.
However, I just bought my first Ric - a new MapleGlo 4003 stereobass - and I have fallen completely in love with the instrument.
I also have a USA Jazz, a USA Jazz Deluxe, a white Gibson T-Bird, a couple of Status-graphite 5-stringers, a couple of acoustic basses (one Fender, one Takamine) and a custom made Shuker J bass from England.
Yet it's only taken a week for me to know that none of them holds a candle to the awesome tonal power and huge character of my new Ric. How did I manage to let these pass me by for all these years?
I'm looking forward to learning everything I can about these instruments and to talking with you guys.

Anndra, Welome and congrats!
All I can tell you is that this is only the beginning. There will be more Rick basses to come - believe me!

Well, sounds like you're destined to become a bona fide Rickenbacker advocate yourself, and that's the way it should be.
Yeah, you better believe Andy - there will be more Rick basses to come.

It starts innocently enough, that first Rickenbacker. Then one day you see another and...
Well you'll see how the story ends. Wait... it never ends!
With time you will be yearning for a vintage Rick and will be glad to mortgage the kids for it.

Welcome Anndra, Good choice on that Rick purchase, there are alot of nice basses out there, but only a Rickenbacker sounds and plays like a Rickenbacker.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys
As for lusting after a new Ric...I've got it in mind to have one custom made by Shuker.
Unless you can tell me there are white Ric's out there with maple necks, a bass clef on the board at fret 12, all gold hardware and a gold mirror scratchplate.
Or, can I buy all this stuff to customise a 'standard' Ric from somewhere?
I'm addicted already!

There are white Rics out there, not many but they are around, and I think they are the classiest looking Rics made. You could maybe find a gold pickguard But as far as the rest of that stuff, nope. No maple necks either, only on the 4004's.
PS. they are much cooler stock, and welcome by the way.

yeah the flash washed out the colour a tad, the bindings are actually white.
