Chipped wood on 650 Dakota

My band played a festival date on tour this weekend, and the staff were quite subpar. After our set, one of the stage hands picked up my Dakota off the guitar rack to move it, and dropped it. There is a 2" long chip, deep enough to bother me, right next to the input jack. I want to take it to a luthier to get it repaired, but need an idea about the cost before I even bring it in. Anyone experienced? Thanks in advance

Whoa...!! Sorry for your misfortune Sean.
If I don't know 'em, they better not touch my babies!! The only people I trust with my RIC's are me, myself and I. That is unless it's a fellow Rickster...
What part of the country are you from Sean?
I'm sure someone here can give you a good idea of the cost.....
Good luck!

Yeah, I feel sorry for our guitar tech sometimes. That's alot of expensive gear he's taking care of. Hi Brian!

I'm from Long Island, NY. The festival/stage-hand-from-hell were in Knoxville, TN. I'm kind of ticked he wouldn't throw me some money for the damage.

I would certainly talk to the promoters of the festival as that stage hand had no business picking up your guitar. They should pay for whatever it takes to satisfy you.

My luthier sectioned some maple into one of my 3000's to correct a factory "miscut" of sorts and did a very good job considering the bass is finished in clearcoat. He's out here in California. He's well known in the Ampeg bass community for his restorations and reproduction instruments. Let me know if ya need more info.

I'd like to get it done locally so as not to have to ship it out and not use it for months and whatnot. It's still playable, I just like keeping my guitars in good shape and looking at this chip makes me sick to my stomach. I just need to know a roundabout of how much it'll cost to fix a chip.

Dakota? Sand it down and oil it.

Got some DAP Plastic Walnut and filled in the chip. Sanded it down as perfectly as I could, then did applied tung oil.
Let me tell you, that DAP stuff works absolute wonders.
