Stainless steel strings - string life problem?

Ok guys, Im using the classic Rotosound Swing 66 45- 105 set on my 4003 (and P bass too)

Satisfied with:

Sound, feel, tension, price

But having a big problem with the longevity of these things. I play hard with a pick, and whilst i dont sweat like mad whilst playing i reckon my body chemisty is not agreeing with them. Lately i have been gigging about once a week. I string up a brand new set,, two rehearsals and one 30min gig and they are toast. They are muddy and the surface feels like it has absorbed a lot of gunk. Im changing strings like every 2 weeks and its expensive.

Im thinking that nickel strings (even the same swing bass strings in nickel) may last me longer perhaps cos of the different alloy. But Aint stainless meant to be longer lasting?

Opinions??

Try DR's, I've had pretty good luck with string life with them.

I hate stainless steel strings....

I MUST have nickel!! They have that certain "feel" that is fantastic!!

Pyramid Chromes or Golds.....IMHO, of course!!
