Hi everybody, I'm very glad to have found this discussion board. It will likely be invaluable once my just ordered 4003 (Mapleglo) arrives. After just settling for other instruments for so long, I've finally made a move towards getting my dream bass and as of Monday the 19th am finally the owner of a brand new Rickenbacker. On paper, at least! It will be worth however long it takes - I was told a few months. Looking forward to more informed discussion then!

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum. There are a lot of guys who know there stuff here and are a great help when it comes to RICs.

Delivery time really depends on what is going on at RIC. I believe RIC quotes 6-9 months from dealer order date. I ordered a Turquoise 4003 in mid-December that has not yet arrived. I order a Montezuma Brown 4003 in late January and it arrived in mid-March. I figured the Turquoise would be in before the MB. The MB was ordered right after the NAMM show so I figured that RIC would have many, many orders as a result so I was thinking early xmas present.

Thanks a lot Mike! I think it's great that Rickenbacker does business this way. It makes the whole experience of acquiring/owning an instrument all the more unique and personal. I think I'm going to like it here!

Hello and Thanks for the welcome everyone! Chris, I ordered my RIC from Long & McQuade, a big music store in Toronto and indeed Canada. L&M's 'house brands' incl. Yorkville Sound and the mighty TRAYNOR! They have excellent customer service and I believe they are the only store in Toronto with a Rickenbacker account. I was given the 1993 '4000 Series' catalog free to make the waiting a little easier.

Actually . . . Steve's in Montreal and Toronto are quite a big dealer of ours along with a handful of smaller stores. Long & McQuade certainly has the coverage all the way across the country. But as the distributor of Gibson in Canada, they do have their priorities.

No, not in Paris. Seriously, 'Last Tango' has the some of the most in-your-face Rick tone I've ever heard on record. To quote myself, 'The 4001 bass at its formidable best'.

To me, that's Glover's solo in Purple's Pictures of Home (Machine Head album).
