There was a story about Rickenbacker in a German guitar magazine, and they showed a picture of a 3-pickup 450, I've never seen that, looks nice! Did they build them regularly or on custom order, does anybody know??

Peter: Are you able to get a copy of this photo and send it along? This was not a stock item as far as I know. I have not seen one before.

You can see the picture on their website http://www.gitarrebass.de (sorry, dunno how to create a link right here), just click on the frontcover of the magazine (with the Fender bass on it), and you'll see a section where it says "Rickenbacker - ein amerikanischer Gitarrentraum (an American guitar dream)", and there's the picture, little but nice. The story is not that interesting, there's nothing new about it. They used a lot of pics of the Bacon/Day book and a few of the Smith one for the article in the magazine, they also tested a model 1997. That's cool because they tested another two Ricks in their last year issues (360/12 JG and a Fireglo 660 with beautiful front page photo!) after I wrote them cards complaining that they forgot to test Ricks since 1994!

You are right Peter, it is rather nice looking.

There's something a little funny about the above pictured Rick. Not enough knobs. And the bridge/bridge plate area looks different. Maybe just a modded 420?

I agree ,this is a total mod thing ,from birdhouse to rocker.
The original "bridge" was a sad thing .I'm sure that prompted this mod.

Speaking of 3 PU 450 style guitars, now that I have a scanner[still got to figure out the hookup of it...] I should post[among other Rick stuff I have waiting] a couple pix I have of John Jorgenson from his Desert Rose Band days and his "customized" turquoise 3 PU 450-12 with custom made "John Jorgenson" signature pickguard
in gold. These pics should be a treat for at least some of you guys.I took them between 1988 and 1990
when DRB were here in the Twin Cities.
