650 doesn't quite fit in hard case

I recently bought a used 650A, with which I am very pleased. The only problem I have is that it doesn't seem to fit correctly in the hard case. As far as I can tell, it is the original RIC case for the 650, but the guitar is slightly wider than the case's cavity at its widest point. The guitar doesn't quite sit flat.
The cavity wall on the latch side is basically perpendicular, while the cavity wall on the hinge side is more sloped, which makes a significant difference. The edge of the case top abrades the edge of the guitar on the latch side if the guitar is set flat on the hinge side. The fit is better when the guitar is set flat on the latch side, although it appears the guitar is being clamped by the case padding on the hinge side.
The neck seems to lie reasonably flat in the case, and there doesn't appear to be any undue stress on the guitar when the case is closed.
Anyhow, is there any way to determine if this is the correct case (it is a bit smaller than my 360's case)? Or is this guitar is not supposed to lie flat in the case? Is there a good way to correct the problem?
