Vintage case vs. Black tolex

Any opinions on which of these cases are better?

Silver tolex has that classic look, but I've heard some people complain about the inside.

Thanks!

My preference is the black tolex, however, I have a 1960s silver tolex so the comparison might not be fair. The lining in the black tolex is more substantial and consequently seems to offer more protection for the instrument.

Anything different between today's cases vs. the 1970's?

I can't speak for 70's Rick cases... but I have a Silver case for my 360/12v64 (built Nov '97) which is gorgeous; luminescent blue plush, nicely padded and supporting all around.

I have cases for my Gibson 335 (1968; formed plywood w/ black tolex ext) and for our American Strat (1999), black tolex w/ red plush, and the Rick case is equally impressive, and much prettier!

Now we also have a 325v59 (built Feb '96) which also has the Silver case; same specs, but the plush is not "luminescent", just a plainer navy blue pile. Still fine, but not as pretty.

Anybody know why the difference?

I got the plain navy blue on my silver case too (made in '92?).
