Going beyond simple serial number details...

I think it's very cool that no matter how new or old our Ric's are, that we can very easily tie them down to a month (sometimes even week) and year of manufacture.
But I want to go further. Is there an online resource, or even a book, which breaks down the manufacturing of the guitars further?
For instance, I own a Fireglo 330 made in November 1999. Wouldn't it be cool if I could learn that there were "x" Fireglo 330s made in that month? Or any other similar information for that matter.
Any help appreciated

For the most part this information exists in our files as massive mountains of paper, or during the last 10 years or so, as computer files. But no one has compiled this data and I'm not sure the results would be worth the massive effort to do so.

Thanks John. I wonder if an author was doing a Rickenbacker book and you offered them the information as an exclusive for their book, whether they'd call in all their mates and number crunch it? If I was an author, having the first, exclusive listing of that kind would be a great temptation to compile.

So.... I suppose trying to find out the exact birthday of a guitar would also be out of the question.... I only mention that, because my husband just bought me a guitar that has a serial number that is the same year and month as my birthday, and it would be fun to find out the exact day....

I'm in the same boat as Mellissa. My 4001 was made during the same month and year as me.
The question is that if no one is going to compile all the data, than why keep it around?

A valid point, Robert.

All things in good time Rob and Rickcrazy. I think that it is great that the data is still around. One day someone will make good use of it as the ultimate Rickenbacker compendium will be compiled.

Let's just hope no one at the factory gets careless with a match before someone writes that book.
