Graphics/decals on Rickenbackers

Post by blur »

It perhaps says a lot about Ric owners that I've seen very few guitars with additional graphics or decals on them. I'm wondering if we can compile a list?

* Peter Buck (REM) has been seen with a 'trucker girl' type decal on his 360.
* Paul McCartney painted his bass in psychadelic colours around Sgt Pepper.
* Roger McGuinn had a little decal (can't remember what it was) for a period in the 60s.

Can you think of any others?

Paul Weller for sure. He had a whole pile of 330's and "decorated" a lot of them.

Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson has magic marker writing all over the body of his white 330. Check under the 'Rickenbacker Artists' section and look for my 'Ric Sighting' posts. I included a photo where you can see his guitar.

Hey! That used to be my "flowerglo" 360!

Glad it found a good home!

Sucks to see Banks' Ric,which I always thought looked cool, in such sorry shape. I wonder if he had the finish work done by the same old guy Squire used?

Don't forget to add Paul Kantner.

Gayle Greenwood of Belly had decals all over hers. This pic is from '93. There was a better one in the newspaper (a great closeup) which I'll try to find.

Hrrrmmm I saw them in college before becoming Rick-Aware. . . don;t recall that particular base but the year of the pic is right on.

Throwing Muses is a better band IMO. SOme days I feel like donating my 330 to Kristin Hersh.
