Curious About My 330

I was sitting down with my 330 last night and I absently tapped on the bridge pickup. Good loud metallic sound there. Out of curiosity, I tapped on the neck pickup... and I could barely hear it. Is this normal?

Also, the inner edge of the soundhole cutaway is black. But if I look at it closely, it's a very haphazard application of black. Doesn't seem to go with the overall quality or finish of the rest of the guitar. Infact, in one place, it looks like it's even a little too thick. I'm wondering if this was something the previous owner did?!?

YEAH! How weird is that?!? Oh well, I'm glad that this must the 'the standard' but it's just so bizarre because the guitar is otherwise such a high quality finish.

My 330 is MG. . . . (messing with it as I type actually) no marker-glo . *shrug*

Hmmmm, maybe they want to keep it all natural looking?

When I got my 330JG, the previous owner had put white auto pin-stripe the exact width of the top around the inside of the soundhole. It looked really nice and I thought that's how they came from the factory, until I found this forum.

My soundhole is the same (Desert Gold) as the body.

The difference in the pickup "tap tones" is probably because the neck pickup sits above the long neck tenon, while the bridge pickup is above a hollow area.
