Anyone over here have any new information on the EM shorts fiasco?

FYI: If you ordered a guitar through them(at least a Rick) you're supposedly screwed.
They lost their dealership w/ Rick and orders won't be filled.

This is the first I've heard of it. Frank: where did you catch the news that they lost their Rick dealership, and do you know if are they in financial trouble?

Matt,

To make a long story short, they lost their Rick franchise. check out Voxtalks for the whole skinny. But as of now, it's no soup for you...
If you ordered from them.

I've never ordered anything from them, but I had heard they were pretty competent folks and their pricing was competitive.

I jogged over to Voxtalks to catch up on this. My gosh. It took three beers to get through all 300+ posts. Truly a fiasco. Certainly both parties can be blamed for a lack of discretion.

I looked at VoxTalks too, and I've never heard of any of these people, including the store. Is it in England or something? Boy, just when you thought you were hep to the scene...

That shows that they are still a decent dealer. Too bad that don't have Rickenbackers, anymore, but getting your money back was the right thing for them to do.

First a brief interlude, Frank: have you plunked your change down on another one somewhere else? Judging only from the reputation of E.M. Shorts I would have been surprised if there was much cavilling over the earnest money. Nonetheless it's good you got it back promptly.

I will likely contact a couple other dealers soon(Jim Rhoads).I'm still picking the Sh*tburger out of my teeth. EM Shorts was a VOxtalks sponsor and seemed very well respected, I thought they were on the up and up. I believe that they still are, thus the prompt refund. If I'm looking for another brand, I will check them out! I just feel like I've been left out in the cold. Kinda like, "Well you're going to order one anyway..."
The price was killer. $1885.00 w/case.First Shipment of C-series.

It's a real shame that you won't be among the first now to get the 325C, and that you'll have to grab a new number. It sure seems like RIC could have honored any advance orders from E.M. Shorts up to the point they notified them that they were cancelling their franchise. Sadly, it's the customer who gets bitten the hardest (no one has to tell you), especially when you consider it's a new series. For what it's worth, Frank, if you opt to buy from Jim Rhoads you certainly won't regret it. I've done business with him, and aside from being a personable guy, he's a square shooter.

It got a lot more interesting but most will never know the real story. Turns out the webmaster for Voxtalks tooks some guitars from EM in payment for sponsorship of his board. Then kicked them off the board when they got sideways with John Hall. The webmaster is apparently embarrased to have this out in public and has threatened to ban any one who discusses it further, including all AOL Servers and any IP addresses from Kansas. His maturity is showing.
