There's a guitar dealer in the UK selling a 1967 double-bound jetglo Ricky 360 12-string for £8,500 !! The ad states that its 1 of only 6 made. Does anyone know if this guitar is really that rare ?

Here's the page from the dealer's site: http://www.vintageandrareguitars.co.uk/index.cfm?method=site.product&product_id=400

Here is a photo, however, I find it difficult to believe that only 6 were made from 1963 to 1967, during a time when the Rickenbacker 12 string was a highly sought after instrument.

Man, that would be really nice in my collection to go along with this...

That guitar's been there for at least five years. Apparently they're waiting for the value to reach their price.

Amazing! Looks like the picture of Jeff's double-bound 4005 could've been taken at the same time with the same camera! Is it also a '67?

Agreed Mortivan. A tiny window into the look of Rickenbacker instruments in 1967.

Yes, mine is from Feb '67. I just saw that 12 string shot and duplicated it as best as I could while looking at it.

I would very, very carefully inspect any Jetglo Rickenbacker made before 1970, especially a 12-string 360. Jetglo '60s instruments are very uncommon.

When I first got my '62 625 (in 1990), I contacted Rick for some more information. Due to some misidentification, things are a little confusing as to the model to which these numbers refer (425?), but according to my notes at the time from a conversation with Rick customer service, there were 89 made in Fireglo and 4 in Jetglo. The Smith book reports 9 '62 625's in Jetglo and 89 in Fireglo. Mine was originally Jetglo; maybe I shouldn't be refinishing it in Fireglo, eh? Image

I would definitely keep it Jetglo.

I guess this makes my '67 lefty 12 JetGlow (the 1960's spelling) very very uncommon...
