I don't know how to post this link, but check out ebay item 3727998599...no reserve for a 1936 electric hollow-body Ken Roberts Rickenbacher guitar with tremelo. Complete with a short history lesson. Pretty interesting.

John, if you don't mind elaborating on that, what IS it? I'm assuming it is not what he says it is...

Do you mean this isn't really part of Ricenbacker history? I un-learn something new every day.

My amateur guess is that John means it's not anywhere that rare. I read somewhere that these were made by Harmony and fitted with a Rickenbacker horseshoe. Harmony was a big producer, and if that's correct, I suspect a lot more than 46 were made.

It's not all that rare- I know of at least 3 others and there's no evidence or documentation to suggest it's the first of that series. The only place that could be ascertained is here in our records and no research on this guitar has been done.
It most certainly isn't the oldest surviving Spanish guitar either- Alvino Rey's 1931 comes to mind and there are surely others.
This guitar and its story appeared once before, as I recall, by a fellow of some reputation out of Wichita.
In any case, it's a nice guitar without the baloney history.
