Hi I´m new to this forum. I would like to know if the pickups in the 325 C58 are in phase or out of phase when all three are working together or in the neck-middle position. Is it a kind of Strat out of phase sound?
Thanks

They are all in phase electronically. As far as what they see as far as string motion, that will depend entirely on the note played.

This always bugs me, so here I go.
The "out of phase" Strat sound isn't the result of an out-of-phase pickup, although there is some phase-twiddling going on with the middle pickup.
True, the middle pickup on your typical Strat is wired backward, but the magnetic polarity is also reversed, effectively putting the signal generated by the string motion back in phase. This is all done strictly in the interest of noise cancellation.
The "out of phase" Strat sound that we hear is simply a result of either pair of pickups being physically closer together than they generally are in most two-pickup configurations.
Therefore, technically, Mr. Hall's statement applies to your typical Strat, as well!
In addition, if one were to wire a 3-pickup Ric in the same manner as a Strat, one just might get a similar (but certainly not identical) "out of phase" sort of sound.
There. I've said it. Now I can sleep.
