The Jam - Pretty Green (330 through a Marshall)
- a crisp "krangg" of a sound as Weller really hammers out simple open chords.

The Smiths - Any of the songs from the "Live At Derby Assembly Rooms gig recorded in 1983 (DVD Bootleg from TV broadcast) A great sound from a Jetglo 330 through a Fender Twin with a touch of Boss chorus pedal. Also used on their first John Peel sessions as heard on many of the Hatful Of Hollow tracks.

The Jam - Dreams Of Children.
- Not sure this is a 330 as Weller sometimes used an Eccleshall guitar live but it may well have been the 330 in the studio played through his Peavey Backstage practice amp. The Peavey was used in the studio extensively for the distorted lead lines on All Mod Cons and on almost all of Setting Sons, Weller switched to the Marshall head & 4x12 for the next studio album - Sound Affects.

The Tourists - I only Want To Be With You
- Dave Stewart giving some great moves on his Ric with a great distorted sound.

REM - Imitation Of Life... love the way that Peter Buck's Ric cuts through on the D / Dsus4 arpeggios at the end of the choruses.

Radiohead has some particularly fine 6-string usage on OK Computer..."Airbag" and "Let Down" are stand-outs for me...
Of course, anything by REM or the Smiths in their early days is gold, in my humble opinion...although I'm not entirely in-the-know in terms of their gear, and I've read that the early recordings for both bands featured the use of telecasters. Since it's hard to tell which is used where I just pretend it's all Rickenbackers that I'm hearing....

"Fortunate Son" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. I am pretty sure John Fogerty played a Ric 6 string probably through his Kustom amp.

The Beatles' "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party", with John's 325 jangling throughout.

REM - too many to list. I am an IRS-era diehard, btw. For the current five minutes, "Life and How To Live It" and "Flowers of Guatemala" stand out.

Sleater-Kinney - again, too many great songs to list. Unfortunately Carrie Brownstein uses a lot of different guitars in the studio so it's hard to tell which ones feature her 330. For those of you that don;t know about them, it's a bassless all-female trio that plays, loosely speaking, garage rock. But the guitar lines by both players are great, especially if you like political and feminist lyrics. To answer the question, "Hollywood Ending" is an awesome track, and it just might be a rick (Or likely an SG)

Sixpence None the Richer's cover of "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House. Wonderfully smooth Rickish tones throughout.... Whenever I put that CD on I always have to stop and LISTEN to that song.

....I also really enjoy Mike Stand's solo projects (he was the lead singer and guitarist for the '80's Christian rock band the Altar Boys). He is now an avid Rickenbacker enthusiast, and two of his albums feature his Rics in the cover photos.... His music jangles and never fails to make me smile!

I agree with The Smiths and REM, that's pretty much what made me want a Ric. The most recent use of a 330 that I've enjoyed has been : Interpol.

I thought Interpol used a 360? At least the photos on the website seem to shown one but I could be mistaken.

I believe they have (or had) at least two Rickenbackers in their arsenal - both 330s, one fireglo and one jetglo. You can see various pics of these guitars at www.interpolny.com/photos.php. Saw the band in concert in Toronto last Fall and neither guitar made an appearance on stage, unfortunately. Looks to me like they're mostly using Gibsons now. Great band though - they put on a really good show that night.

Mike Stand rocks!!! Any of the Jam stuff and REM for sure...I am amazed that there are not more RIC guitars floating around in major circles...
