Yesterday I picked up an interesting, mint Beatles double album called "The Beatles' Story - A narrative and musical biography of beatlemania on two long-play records". It's an US pressing on Capitol Records (STBO 2222) with 'Apple' labels, dating probably from the mid 60's. On the back of the gatefold cover it reads, amongst other things, "Produced by Gary Usher and Roger Christian. Special material written by John Babcock, in association with Al Wiman and Roger Christian of radio station KFWB, Hollywood, California. Narration by Babcock, Wiman, and Christian." Have I stumbled upon a rare piece of Beatles memorabilia?

I doubt if it's all that rare, it was rushed together in early 1964 by Capitol...it's considered one of the 'original' Beatle records in the US, but they made a zillion of them.....I dunno how many were pressed under the Apple label though.

my freind had one when they first came out on Capitol...KFWB and KRLA (which produced the Beatles' Hollywood Bowl concerts) were the two big rock stations until KHJ came along. I didn't know Apple made any of these.

The Apple ones started in the early '70s. All the U.S. Capitol Beatles albums switched from the rainbow colored lable to the green label and then to Apple. The covers still said capitol. My copy of "The Beatles Story" is on Apple too.
