Matching Paints

I need to reset the bass neck with a shim on my 4080. Shouldn't be to bad to do? When I get this loose there will be some minor flaking around the body seam. I would like to touch this up with a little Azureglo Blue paint?
I don't think Ric has this color avaiable for sale to us Rickenbacker owners?
To be honest I have not bothered to ask?
Could anyone tell me if I can get a real close color match using todays computers? I am willing to bring this guitar into the auto body, specialty, paint shop and see if it can be computer scanned? Also what type of paint do I want? I am thinking an enamel? I will most likely have to get a pint but I figure there may be some others here who may want a small bottle of this color if I can get it mixed? Randy

Randy, did you buy the Mike Parks Azureglo 4080? I noticed it was gone!

Yeah There weren't any anywhere else on the planet for sale, as far as I could find on every internet search I could do? I got a fair deal on it. It did not go for the $4,999 But I do have to set the bass neck? Just about mint otherwise! This is gonna be fun when I get it out!

Cant wait to see it, I have been longing for that one for a LONG time, but not enough scratch. I'm glad you snapped it up, you're right, there aren't many, and the ones that are around don't go up for sale often.

Randy those necks are also glued in I think besides being bolted, why does it need to be reset?

Got a 1/2" rise above the last fret to the strings? Hate to do it but I think I can handle it? I have some Luthier tools and even a few custom made saws and files? To be honest I am more worried about repairing the paint chips after this is done? How about that PAint guy's? What is the actual Paint Ric uses? Is it a Laquere? or ? Thanks Randy

Is the neck completely straight Randy? Probably a stupid question but have you tried adjusting the truss rods?

Yep Neck is spot on perfect? Very strange? I read an older posting on one of the internet chat sites and I think it was our Ted S. who had mentioned his early 4080 had this very same problem? I am quite optamistic about fixing this myself I have always been able to make Wood do what I wanted, with a little coaxing? Sounds like I have opened up a line of jokes for myself? Randy

So again any suggestions for what kind of paint I can use as a touch-up paint? I will most likely have to have a pint of this color mixed up? If I do I will have a lot of extra paint for spot fixes on an Azureglo painted guitar? Perhaps there will be others here who may want a small 1oz bottle ??

Randy:
Bob is quite right about the bass neck on a 4080 being glued in besides being bolted. My 4080 is a case in point. Luckily, the bass neck on it never did require resetting.
