While we're at it, I'd like to ask if anyone knows how a song as beautiful as "I'll Be Loving You" managed to slip through the cracks.......if they had recorded it for commercial release and not for the BBC, it could have been a hit.

This song is credited to Mike, John, Chris, and Frank--but does anyone know who really wrote it?

RJHC--I'm pretty sure the lead on "I Don't Believe" is by Chris, with Frank singing backup. I myself have wondered about the track "Once Upon a Time"--the pamphlet inside the CD box says it was recorded in 1965, but first of all, it doesn't sound like what they were doing in 1965, and moreover, sometimes I listen to it and can't help thinking that the lead voice belongs to none other than Tony Jackson, who of course was not with the group in '65. Any comments?

According to Frank Allen, the writer of I´ll Be Loving You is Chris, but he doesn´t play on that BBC recording. The drummer then is Blunt.
I will write again - next week - and tell you about the leadsingers - as far as I know them.

Interesting! I always thought that sounded like Blunt's drumming style (compare this to "It's Just The Way"--very similar, especially on the break), but what always threw me off is that at the end of the song, the guy who shouts "I'll be loving you!" sounds like Chris to me. But it can't be if it was recorded with Johnny Blunt.....I wonder who that singer is, then?

I look forward to your next post, Michael.

The other track MD refers to is "Sweet Little Sixteen."

SJ Dibai is correct though in his observation that "Once Upon A Time' according to pamphlet states recorded 65 (20/5/65) I concur with MD Tony Jackson certainly takes lead so I reckon it is more likely to have been recorded in 64, I would guees at the time "Some Day We're Gonna Love Again" was recorded.
