Rickenbacker resonance

I've owned several Rics, and I recently picked up a new 620. The one thing about some Rics I've owned, including this new one, is that even with new strings, the strings sound slightly compressed to me, and do not resonate. I've always used D'Addario 10's. With a few other guitars, I've found that widening the nut slots a bit can help this. What tricks have other Ric owners found, to really make these come alive?

I had a 360V64 that I used the Rick compression wounds on. I liked the sound with the toasters/semi-hollow combination, it could go from brilliant to that compressed jazz sound. My 610 which is closer to your 620 I used D'Addario 11's. These are much livelier. A little more difficult for string bending though. The 610 is 21 frets so the neck pickup is somewhat dark. I liked blending the two. Very bright on the back pickup though.
