Schaller® Strap Locks and Model 350

I have put Schaller Strap Locks on all of my Rickenbackers with success on two out of three models. RIC has provided the Schaller buttons on the end of the stock bolts so the strap buttons are easily replaced by taking out the stock Rickenbacker buttons and replacing the Schaller buttons. I found great results in the physical installation of the Schallers in my Model 350, Model 450/12 and Model 4003. The sound is unaffected in the Model 450/12 and the Model 4003. There is a problem to report with the 350 installation as far as the sound goes, however. I find that the metal locking piece on the strap rubs against the metal button on the guitar and this creates a noise that is amplified by the toasters. I have switched back to the RIC strap buttons and all is well again. I would like to hear from others that may have found this same outcome. The combination of the semi-acoustic body and the toasters contributes in some way to the amplification of this undesirable "creaking" sound.

I put the strap locks on my 330. It has the high-gains, so maybe there is some difference. Anyway, after the initial "click" which does get amplified through the pick-ups, they don't seem to make any noise while playing.

Interesting Phil. I had less of a problem with the high gain pickups. I found that the noise continued even after hookup. There is a point at which volume masks the problem but at that stage there are usually strong recommendations from family members that I practice somewhere else!

Mark: Have you noticed this with the Scaller buttons before? Is there a fix?

Do you have a nylon washer or felt washer betwwen the button and the Tailpiece or the wood ?

I would suggest that .

On my guitars I have Schaller Strap locks on all of the ones I gig with.

Yes They do make some noise ,but the washer thing helps.

Try it .
