Some things look right, but a "beefy neck" and small inlays on a 68 are something I,ve never seen...

I'd say early its early '70s with some older parts.

look's like a 73 like you said with older pickup suround maybe even jack plate replaced with sereal number.

I always thought that Rumble Seat was pretty reputable. My guitar player bought a sweet Les Paul from them.
That's really disappointing...

it looks like a 70's ric with some parts swapped out ... there is no way that neck was made before 1973 ... I'd say that bass is worth $1000 ...
