Just stumbled across an old vintage guitar magazine from the late 90's and saw an ad for a shop with its stock list. In this list there was a Tuxedo for $650...and I wonder...will these days ever return???

Saw a movie the other day with a scene at a gas station. Gas was 25cents/gallon.

Yes, but then depending on how long ago you have to factor in inflation, incomes might have been a lot less then. The only thing that presents a true picture is cost to income ratio for each timeframe.

Marc.....

Only if someone lists their Tuxedo for $650.00 again.... :^)

There ARE still bargains out there to be had....
I've gotten a few and missed a few, you just have to be diligent...

About a month ago, I came close to getting a Shadow in EXC+ condition with OHSC for $750. Instead, I told the seller what he had and its approximate value, and to sell it on eBay when he decides to sell it.

I used to put a "bucks worth" of regular in my 61 Chevy in 1971 and ride around until we needed another "bucks worth" which was a while as you got almost 4 gallons for it, was a saying way back in the dark ages.
there's a thread from last year or the year before about how much everyone payed for their first Ric, I payed $477.00 for a new mapleglo 4001/case in 1977 and that was expensive then.

I just found a Hammond A-100 for free and I am giving it to our Keyboard player! Now that may not mean much to the Non Hammond knowledgeable musician but the A-100 is a B-3 on steroids! I gave it to him yesterday, He lost his mind! When he finds it again we are taking the B-3 guts out of the heavy (400lb) wooden cabinet these things were built in and making a road case for it with folding legs and phenumatic tires (160lbs). I am stripping the Leslie apart and building a lighter cab with handles and wheels for this as well. Yeah deals still exist! This thing with the leslie like it sits now is worth $2000-$3000 after we get done with the road gig conversion it will be worth more! Well it's almost cost free to him he does have to buy the next round of YES tickets if they do another tour and he owes me and my family a nice Lobster and Filet dinner on the deck this next summer. Not a bad deal all way round Wish I could find a nice old Ricenbacker Bass some old Lady is giving away. If anyone finds one let me know I'll come and pick it up and buy the lobsters for you OK?

Those prices will return if people stop laying down crazy amounts of cash.

There are good deals to be had though, I bought a Blackstar 3 weeks ago for$700.

I think I posted some of this awhile back but here are some prices from the July 1966 price list.

Bantar $479.50
4000 $379.50
4001 $429.50
4005 $479.50
4005/6 $509.50
360 $414.50

Adjusted for inflation, it would appear that todays prices are quite a bargain.

Why can't I invent a time machine? Go back in time, bring back all the Ricks I can get my hands on, and then come back?
And, audition for Led Zeppelin or the Jimi Hendrix Experience while I am at it. Image
