What's with the "private ID" bidders thing?
Perhaps I'm just dense, but why would you not want to know the bidders on your item?

A better picture wouldn't go amiss, either.
"...but I've never seen another one that is black with a black pickguard and nameplate." Is he putting us on?

I don't think I've ever seen a black p/g and trc with WITH chrome trim.....it IS interesting....

The "private ID" thing is that the auction is a private auction, and all bidders' IDs are hidden. I've seen this used mainly for very expensive things, and I assume it's so that the buyer's identity is not revealed to the general population. Of course, buying a $50,000 oil painting and buying a $1000 guitar are a bit different ...

So there's nothing to prevent "shill" bidding on the high dollar stuff either.....
I don't think I'd touch a "private ID" auction unless I knew the seller.....just me, I guess...

There was a 76 identical to that hanging in the Natick Ma. Mars a few years ago, was pretty beat though, they wanted 1500.00 for it, they never sold it, was owned by an employee there who took it back.

OK, what am I missing here? I just dont see the rarity. Couldnt this be a product of a TRC exchange and an aftermarket Pickguard?
Or....,, after studying the less than desirable pic, do I see a white bound fingerboard, with a black bound body ?

BB body and white fb binding. I really like it.

Or it could be a black refin over the binding. I'd ask for hi-res closeup pics before bidding.

The private bidder id thing is kind of nice. I'm bidding on a cheapo lucite bass and some clown emailed me in some sort of english asking what my highest bid was so he could place a bid that was higher.
