Nice guitar, but $3295.00 might be a little optimistic!

Well I've got both and they're very different beasts (and this is my 2nd CS). The CS is much brighter, even acoustically. The CS also has a much slimmer neck (although my V63 is a '98). I'd say the CS is much more about upper mids, whereas the V63 is deeper, warmer and more hollow sounding. That's pretty much been my experience of all the V63s/CSs I've played. Don't know whether it's the paint, the vermillion or the slimmer neck, but they just don't sound that much alike. Personally I think the CS looks a lot better, although I love the V63 too (and I appreciate the problem some people have playing a signature bass; my band couldn't get much further away from Yes -who are my favourite band - so it doesn't bother me). Still, my CS takes precedence; I've even been toying with selling my V63 (which is mint, unlike my CS). Beautiful bass, but I'm not really playing it as much as the CS and my 4000 which is bizarrely more powerful and aggressive sounding than either. I think if somebody made me the right offer I'd probably let it go. When I bought my first CS it was new and was actually cheaper than I could obtain a V63. How times change....

Interestingly a friend of mine brought his brand new 4003 round the other day, and we both thought all three of my main basses (didn't get the 72 out..."don't even look at it!" to quote Nigel) blew it into the dust. He was somewhat disappointed....nice bass though.

BTW, a seagreen V63 may be a different proposition...and I do like fireglo....shame mine's a mapleglo really...although it IS rather nice.
