Aren't those pics off of Mike Park's site of the bass that sold for $3395 (or thereabouts)? I couldn't find the other thread.

Sure has appreciated in the few months since it last sold. It was too rich for my blood at just over $3K, I can't see paying $7K for it now.
Still would like one of these some day, but not at these kinds of prices.

I consider the 4002 as a " one off " attempt to compete with the Jazz bass. Although very nice, (I'd love to have one), I just cant see that kind of cash for one. Thats the funny thing about Ricks, limited editions, signature models exc..,,seem to command more cash than a really clean, all original pre-'73 4000-4001. :0

No takers on the 4002, it went unsold.

I had been in "negotiations" with the seller for IF it didn't sell on the 'bay. We had agreed on a price and terms but someone over there negotiated a price/trade deal with him, whereas mine was $$$$ only.....
He took the other persons deal for "convenience" sake.....so it goes....

Thank you Scott....
I had talked at length with the seller and everything was legit, it was just a matter of "logistics" that did me in....
The quest continues....

I was actually talking to him too! He was telling me that he a firm offer of $6,000.00 US for it if it didn't sell. I'd offered him what he paid Mike Parks and wasn't prepared to go the extra several thousand dollars. I would have had to sell my 4005 and that's just not in the cards!

I very near;y put up a 4003 in px, but in the enf felt it was just too expensive, no matter how nice. Iwas also a bit concerned at the lack of original pics, particularly of the rear body. Hope it goes to a good home. We'll probably see it again....
