I'm off to the US next week, so do any UK forumites need eg Ricky strings or other hard-to-get bits while I'm over there? I'll do what I can.

Cheers Philip, I'll have a reissue horseshoe if you can find one! In the extremely likely event that you can't, hope you have a great trip! Actually I'd be interested to know how much Rick cases are in the States, as they seem very expensive over here.

Hi Phil - I'd love it if you could get some Ric strings!

At £28 a pack here (about $50!) it's bloody expensive keeping my basses up to scratch.

Email me and let me know what you need ;)

Hey Shaun, I'd be very surprised to find a reissue horseshoe anywhere. I picked up one of of Ebay not too long ago at $300USD and everyone felt I got a deal.

In fact, late last year a UK dealer renigged on selling me two he had in his store stock.

Hi Marc

Yeah, I know, unfortunately. Just a touch of irony creeping in there (sorry!)! I've made a few offers here and there for ones that have cropped up but not surprisingly no-one is selling. I'd be interested to hear who that UK dealer is though, and also if he's still got them....any chance of letting me know? You can e-mail if you'd prefer. Probably hasn't still got them and if he has probably wouldn't sell them anyway, but heck, it's worth a try. I can only end up looking stupid, and that's nothing new! Image

Honestly I don't remember. his claim in the end is that they were sold anyway.

The best move is probably to get an old steel with 1 1/4" shoes an put a hi-gain bobbin in there. Could end up being less expensive and you have the bets of both worlds then

I've kind of gone that route; Sergio kindly built me a pickup (which is great) and Chris P kindly provided some missing screws, but my shoes don't fit very well unfortunately. And you know what it's like when your shoes don't fit....to be honest it's not a great issue at the moment as I'm really happy with the pickup that I've got (Sergio is the man!); it was more for the look than anything (I'm just funny about these things!)I'll doubtless get it sorted.
