Look at the brass vents on that AC30! They don't come any cleaner than that!

My question is when did Rickenbacker make 325/12v63s? They aren't listed anywhere under the models section of the Ric website. How can I get one?

I've been round and round with these guitars for almost 13 years and would love for someone in the know to give the definitive story on the short scale 12 strings.

I have a very early s/n 320/12v63 dated autumn 1985. I have talked to the Japanese distributor and he says this is about when the guitars went into production for Japan.
How many were built in this initial run? I've heard anywhere from 19 to 25.
There were also a handfull made in around 1993 in a brief period when Rickenbacker was taking custom orders. These had non-vintage tuners if I recall. Then again a handfull of 325/12's in '98 and of course this last run of 136 (?) in 1999.
(I tried to order a mapleglow one from this last prodution run, but they wouldnt do it. )

The history of this model has always been a bit mysterious. I've even been told by dealers "in the know" that Rickenbacker has even denied their exitence from time to time.

Its such a great guitar. I think it should be a regular production model. Let everyone experience the joys of the 325/12

Here is a recent legend for you.

In 1999, Rickenbacker had denied existence of several 325/12s that were purchased out of Japan the year before. Why? Because they didn't manufacture them. The 325/12s that were acquired by some people here in North America were actually six string 325V63s that had been converted and then resold. There is more, but it doesn't serve any purpose to discuss it.

I have one that I bought new in Dec. 1999. It is still like new and I do not play it. If someone wants it, let me know. [email protected]
