I decided that the 360/12v64 was going to have the bridge at lease relocated and while in the neighborhood I figured I'd put on a twelve saddle one so I don't go nuts searching in vain for perfect intonation.

With the help of the good doctor (on tap via email

The replacement arrived already!

Ordered on Monday, received on Friday.

Looks like I have something to fiddle with tonight...

I was pleasantly surprised that the saddles were pre-ground to the fretboard radius - I just assumed they'd be prismatic blocks of aluminum.

Looks like the arch of the strings needs to be finalized ,notch the string slots so the tops are the 10" radius ....it feels smoother.

As you are a rookie to stobe tuning I have soem tips for you .

Its back together and restrung - which wasn't as horrible as I expected. Only took 45 minutes to restring - about normal for a 12 string.

I've not yet attempted to check intonation or adjust it. Letting the strings stretch some...

Psychologically, it >>LOOKS<< better to me. I think the strings look more "precise" but I'm sure its my imagination!

The strings check nicely at 10"

Also, I deviated slightly from your recipe...

Instead of going 0.045" across the sweep, I started at 0.050" on the low E and decreased each pair by 0.001" - hence, by the time I was at the treble e pair, I was down to your suggested 0.045"

The reason I did this is because the space BETWEEN the high/low pair is important as well, while it may not be noticeable at all, I suspect it will be (even if only because of the psychological impact).

Also, my photo's didn't come out that great - in the above, the inset upper left was taken one handed (other hand was holding a hand-held magnifier and the saddle in the vise is in the bubble spot on the hand held glass).

I'm a happy man, but I gotta tell ya, anyone wanting this job done, expect to pay for the results!
