The dude says the serial number is M something. Late 73..Could be legit. I have had late 73's with a button top high gain...What is it with these not-so-right looking trussrod covers lately?

A late 1973 with 'button top' high-gain pickups is legit. As for suspicious-looking TRCs, I believe that more often than not they're not period correct.

"Rickenbacker rewound the pickups to spec "

I didn't think the factory did that ?

try this ... call Rickenbacker and ask them to rewind your pickups for you ... you will get a polite reply explaining how they don't do custom shop work ... and black body binding on a '73 ... I've never seen that before ...

True, of course the Pro-refininsh might have included custom binding, however, why get a pro-refininsh, then hang it on a ****** wall hook to "slightly damage it" ??
