Anyone have experience with these animals?

I'm seriously considering getting one. I tried the Carlo Robelli(inferior product) and the Hamer Chapperral, which was nice but, the strings were kinda close together.

Anyone try the Dean model? Other models?

Marc, I play a Hamer 12 String bass, the B12L. LOVE it. Of course, if I had a B12S or B12A, I would love it even more!
The Hamer is the best sounding 12 out there, PERIOD. The Chapparal is the lower end (AKA more readily available) one out there. They have active EMG's in them. The Deans are OK, but I feel the Hamers have better construction and sound far better. The MusicVox and Kids 12 strings are just OK in my book.
Here's a good source for info:

Also, be sure to check out the interview I did for their site! Image (under Member Profiles and Resumes)
Here's a pic of my beast. I just call it "The 12".

David, that's a cool looking bass. I have an inquiry out to them.

Steve, as far as the Hamer, I'm interested, i liked the one I tried but, would prefer an American made one if I can find it.

What's the difference between the L,S and A models?

Well, Mine is a B12L (chapparal). The B12A looks like an acoustic bass, but it is really a solidbody. There is a B12A on Ebay right now...they are VERY rare.

The B12S is a short scale and looks like a double cutaway Les Paul.

The b12s looks interesting. Now if I could just find someone selling it...

I'm looking all the time, Marc. They don't come up for sale all that often. But I will let you know if I run across one. It's on a whole other level than the Chapparals. Thunderous!

How about this:

or this:

I don't like the seller for the first one so I e-mailed the second guy and made him an offer including a incentive to have it professionally shipped.

Both of those are WAY overpriced, probably because they are both white. They are also both Korean. Most of the Korean ones go for about $5-600 on Ebay. I don't like that first seller either. I notice he sells quite a few of the "Carlo Robelli" and Galveston basses and their ilk.

Marc, there is a fellow, Mark "Surf Rat" Rowe, who occasionally posts on the Forum and has a 12-string bass webpage:

Lots of info and pics, very cool!

I think I'm going to go with the Musicvox. The reviews are mixed but, I like the construction, the look, it's a decent price AND he happens to have one in Seafoam Green. it's a color I can't refuse. I'll post pics when I get.
