Been playing my 325C58 a lot lately. I am beginning to see a slight darkening of the fretboard which I am sure is oil from my hands / fingers. While I have refrained from eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches while playing, I realize that something has to change or a few years down the road it could get ugly. Any ideas are appreciated. I have read that linseed oil is one option. Thoughts?????

This would also pertain to 730L Laramies, as they also lack finish on the fretboards. I'll look at mine (both the 325c58 and the 730L) tonight to see if I can see any darkening on either fretboard (but I haven't played them that much).

There are oils out there that deal specifically with fretboard lubrication, but I can't give you any examples. Glen Lambert had previously mentioned a beeswax treatment on his own C58, maybe Glen will elaborate...

I see this on my 730L if I hold the guitar just right in the light. The 325c58 has hardly any, but I haven't played it that much, either.

I have decided that I will not obsess-compulse over this.

If you want the Lennon look on your blonde C58 you should leave the fretboard alone. John Lennon played that guitar constantly in Hamburg and Liverpool during the early days. Plenty of beer, sweat, coke, etc., darkened that fretboard the natural way.

I agree with Larry I also recamend stew mac fret board oil - it not lemmon oil like most everything else out there
