Does anyone remeber a few years when nbc released the made for tv movie about john lennon? It was a beatle movie, which means i must like it (being a diehard beatle fan) but it annoys me to think of how many things are wrong it.

Ex. It only has half of his life....
Ex. None of the actors bare any resemblence what so ever
Ex. The drum head in one of the final scenes is not correct
Ex. none of the actors have their individual stance down
Ex. When john is 15 in the movie, he looks as though he is 30 something because they have the same actor play him throught out the film.......
Ex. one more.....the wigs sucked

But otherwise I liked it...........Any other thoughts?

I remember something about John Lennon that ended right when the went on the Ed Sullivan show. As I recall, I liked it very much, and thought the Paul was good. Got it on tape somewhere, though now it is on DVD.

There was the movie "Backbeat" several years ago that ended with the group in the studio just prior to going to America.

I am sure that we can all see errors in just about every biopic there is about a comtemporary figure... especailly when it someone like Lennon who had so much of his life documented in photos, both professional and amateur.

Reality can never be duplicated in a movie... there will always be something wrong... like the Roman citizen in "Gladiator" who is wearing a watch...

I thought VH-1 did an excellent job a number of years ago with "Two Of Us", with the actors portraying Paul and John doing a great job.

I rented "Two Of Us" a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty good....

The scene where they were gonna go down to SNL and collect the $3000 was cool....but then the call from YOKO came....and I was FURIOUS with her.....but hey...what's done is done....

There are 2 movies I kinda like:
1- The Birth of the Beatles- it's cheezy but it's a cool flick of the Hamburg days. Not sure if it's a verifiable accounting. Even though Pete Best ahd something to do with it.

2-John & Yoko a love story- was great. The guy really looked like John.

Don,

Dick Clark's "Birth of the Beatles" is the best film of it's type I've ever seen! I'm a serious Beatles fan and I'm fairly satisfied with it's attempts at "keepin it real".
Obviously Dick Clark didn't care for Pauly, as every shot of Paul is unflattering as well as portraying him as being petty and snipey. The actor portraying John was a bit old but looked very much like him. Good film and more dramamtic than one might think.

Larry
PS: When is VH-1 going to air that film? Wish they would..

I think Birth of the Beatles was more technically accurate than Backbeat.... (although its been a long time since I've seen BOTB)

What drove me nuts about Backbeat is that the innacurate things could so easily have been corrected if they had paid more attention to history and a little less to how they "thought" is should have been. To the layman some of these errors went un-noticed, but to your average run of the mill Beatles fanatic they were cause for rage and angst.

The term "angst" is now widely used with a negative and derisive connotation that mocks the expression of a common adolescent experience of malaise, possibly brought on by the physiological changes of puberty, in "whiney", melancholy music.

You're still going through puberty Brammy? haha!

When it comes to Beatlemania, YES! Its been one long 40+ year puberty.
