The Magical Mystery Tour

I remember as a kid having The Magical Mystery Tour album on eight-track tape,back when eight-tracks were still the norm of course.The albums songs were in a completely different order on eight-track than on record.This was the order on my eight-track copy:PROGRAM 1/The Magical Mystery Tour/Blue Jay Way /Your Mother Should Know:PROGRAM 2/Strawberry Fields Forever/Baby You're A Rich Man/I Am The Walrus-part 1:PROGRAM 3:I Am The Walrus-conclusion/The Fool On The Hill/Hello Goodbye:PROGRAM 4/Flying/Penny Lane/All You Need Is Love:I now have this album on record,and hearing these songs in the LP order took a little getting used to.SIDE 1/The Magical Mystery Tour/The Fool On The Hill/Flying/Blue Jay Way/Your Mother Should Know/I Am The Walrus/SIDE 2/Hello Goodbye/Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane/Baby You're A Rich Man/All You Need Is Love/I also have the movie on VHS.

Our first exposure to music, typically in adolescence, is always the most memorable. We often spend the rest of our lives looking at this same music from s similar perspective. You have, for me at least, begun a very interesting topic for discussion John.

My first conscious exposure to music,..music that I REALLY paid attention to was in the late 60's.....Beatles, Moody Blues, etc....that type of music was what my two older brothers listened to, and played.....

Interesting side note.....I remember my brothers singing "You're going to lose that Girl" into a single "microphone" in the classic Paul/George pose......and me at a very young age, doing the profile of John singing into a mic with my lower jaw jutting out and me bobbing my head forward and back like he did......I know that used to crack them up....lol!!

I guess you had to be there....

That period most definitely influences my musical tastes today....

MMT was actually the first album I bought with my own money. The inner picture book was pretty cool too. I played it over and over. The one time we got a better Beatle product in the USA than the UK.

Well..ahem...I used to have a listen to MMT when I was "elsewhere" if you catch my meaning, sitting out in the garden off on some other planet. Very nostalgic and comforting every time I listen to it, especially "Blue Jay Way" with that Leslie spread all over it. Really love that record.

Heh I even got that little cartoon of the guys as wizards tattooed on my left arm....

I think its one of the best albums, and the film is aswell, although alot of people hated it when it came out, I still love it.. Fool on the Hill, I Am The Walrus, Flying.... really great songs 67 was their best year for me personally, I just love all their tracks from around that period

A relative gave me the MMT EP(2-7")when I was a lad. Still have it. It only had the songs from the film, no SFF, Penny Lane,etc.

People here laugh when I say I listen to my LP's, but 8 track tapes? Now those WERE bad, haha! BTW they were the norm for about one or two years. I used to like the way they'd stop right in the middle of a song and switch to the opposite direction.

My first vinyl copy of Abbey Road skipped in the middle of Sun King. Now whenever I listen to it on CD I'm always waiting for the skip!
