Buying a Fireglo 4001 or 4003?

I'm a bass player and Beatle related instrument collector. I have owned and do own some of the coolest Beatle makes/models they played. However, I have never owned a Rick bass!! I'm in love with some of the beautiful aged looking Fireglo finishes I have seen on different members 4001's and 4003's here. I do like the bound body look. I would like to get members opinions/suggestions on what year, model and pickups would be best if I'd like the Macca tone and Fireglo look. Are the 4001 or 4003 reissues worth looking in to? Your suggestions and help would be appreciated.

late 60's 4001 flamed FG, check bound, full width MOP inlay, clear thumb rest, split tailpiece, transplanted reissue C64 horseshoe...
IMHO

Agreed Jared. I,d have prefered a horse, of course, but apart from JR,s old bass, it doesn,t get much closer than this...

Jared, Please explain "full width", split tailpiece (vs. what else?), and why a transplanted reissue horseshoe? Are the originals not good! Sorry for my naiveity but I don't want to make any mistakes. Thanks much. Ron

the bass in those pics is one I sold for $6500 ... if you are a beatle fan then get a C64 ...

Ron-
See how the fret markers go ALL the way across the fretboard in Andy's pics? The split tailpiece refers to that little slot in the string divider-also in Andy's pics.
Of course Jeff's bass was all 'dat!
The C64S is the closest thing to Sir Paul's bass for us righties. Except for that ridiculous headstock.
The C64 reissue horseshoe is the closest repo of them old shoes. Finding a pristine vintage horseshoe would be difficult-but not impossible.
I still don't think there's all that much difference between the C64 vs V63 tone.
