Definitely NOT original. Notice the input jack says "Stereo-Sound" and does not have a serial number? That's just for starters......there are a lot of things wrong with that one!

Some things stand out a mile, but I thought those inlays were the best I,ve seen apart from the genuine thing and that fireglo is real close to my 73 version. At $820 that,s an expensive copy...

Wenn die <<ad>> nur auf Ânglische wäre!

(with apologies for what's probably bad grammar!)

What I noticed also was the odd proportions of the horns/body.

It's no wonder RIC doesn't sell their truss rod covers - so many fakes out there! I was in a pawn shop last week and saw what looked like a 4001 hanging in the corner. By the time I was 10 feet away from it, I knew it was a fake - wrong pickups, tuners, input jack etc... The only thing that looked real was the TRC. I was going to talk to them about buying the TRC only, but I figured I wouldn't be able to convice them the bass was a fake. And it was only $850 US!

That went for $799.16.

*Bloody Hell* - I feel sorry for the poor/stupid guy who bought that. Image

$800.00 for a 4001 copy?? What's the world coming to? Every single part on that bass is a dead giveaway - the tuners, the body binding, even the truss rod cover. Only the fretboard inlays look remarkably like the real thing.

Think about it, some RIC lover will probably get that beast for Christmas from their unknowing wife or girlfriend. :0

Not me though, my wife is very skilled in the fine art of spotting a Fakenbacker.
