C64 keywinds as spare part?

I have noticed that the C64 comes with tuners that would be perfect for bringing my 75 4001 back to original appearance. No Ric logo and slotted screw head. Do they come as spare parts?

The only significant difference between the old and new is the plating. The older tuners appear to be nickel plated where the newer ones are bright chrome.

I replaced all of the original '70's tuners on my 3000's with the new ones. The new ones just worked so much better and didn't have any slack in them. They can also be completely disassembled for polishing or cleaning and are rversable. While not "correct" in appearance, they are the only ones available from RIC that fit the application.

I meant to say, the only significant difference in appearance. The reverse winding is significant difference.

Dane, What did happen with the ones you replaced? Do you still have them?

Ted/Lars-

I have a c64S and the tuners are not the bright chrome ones that were used on the v63 and the new 4003s. The c64 tuners do appear to be nickel plated. I don't know all of the ways that the c64 tuners may differ from the 70's tuners, but one noticeable difference is the lack of the black plastic skirt on the peg. I don't know if you could use the black skirt from your old tuners on the c64 tuners or if you would want to but that may be a possibility. I also don't think that the c64 tuners have the plasticish pad that sits between the mounting plate and headstock.

Lars...I sold two sets on E-Bay. I still have one set left but one of the tuner pegs has been re-nickle-plated. The other three would need to be done to match. This makes them too tight in the plastic bushings which would need to be sanded out to make them fit(not a big deal). I'm not sure if I hav ethe plastic gaskets and bushings though. E-mail me and I'll check when I get home.

I wonder if the diameter of the in the headstock holes are the same or if my bass has been redrilled to accomodate the small Schaller tuners. What is the diameter on the standard ferrules? Does anybody know?

This is the headstock as it looks now:

I know some of you actually like this type of tuners. I don't, and would really like to have them replaced.

I have 2 new sets of chrome, 2 sets of black from the 80's, and one set of chrome from the 70's ... the set from the 70's has 3 of the 4 with a straight screw slot and not the phillips head ... and I have one extra brand new never installed chrome tuner ....
