McCartney at Super Bowl

I'm stunned that McCartney is doing this --- but...he is a HUGE american sports fan -- especially a Yankee fan (YUK!THE LOWEST!) I saw him with Terry Bradshaw in an interview once and he said he followed all his games in the 70's.

Aren't the Superbowl half-time shows all lip-synched? It was embarassing enough that the Beach Boys (only one of the best white american vocal groups since the 50s) did that.

Actually Garth Brooks did the show without lipsynch... it was part of his contract. He refused to do it any other way.

Don't know if Macca will let them dictate to him what he does. How do you tell one of the truest superstars of music "Um, Sir McCartney, I'm a pimply faced producer of halftime shows and we need for you to, um, lipsynch some of your most famous compositions. Um, we don't think anyone will notice..."

Anyone else remember the Chris Farley interview with Paul on SNL? That is probably one of the funniest things I had ever seen on SNL. Wish I had a copy...

Patrick, I think it is on the Best of Chris Farley SNL video. I know I have a tribute special they aired after he passed and it is on there.

My guess is that he will probably lipsynch. It's just the way live events are produced now. It's all timing, especially THIS show ie. the commercial billing. You never know though...The Beatles mostly sang live on the majority of their live performances, and I liked them for this, as the lesser bands of the 60's always lipsyched.

I think he could do it live. I played at a few weddings and everything had to be spot on exact timinh. The songs had to last down the second just so long. It always came out fine.

from the beatles anthology and books by lewisohn, the beatles had to lipsync performances for TV for the BBC & Granada. I believe that even some of the AHDN concert scenes were lip synced.

Well of course some of the early TV perfromances and especially film were lip synched. My favorite HELP! scene is a lip synch (You're Gonna ALose That Girl) which is about as close to a studio performance outside of Let It Be! that you will ever see. All of the perfomances on American Bandstand were lip synched...

"I think he could do it live"? I think he could do it standing on his head...

With the five second delay now in place, it will be kind of weird if you are listeneing to the Super Bowl on the radio and watching the video on TV...

Plan on paying high prices for the tickets if they're anywhere on the level of what they were in 2002 ($125.00 & $250.00 a seat!). Hope you have a very understanding wife Chris!

Since my Steelers choked, I'll be watching only for Sir Paul, and to hopefully watch the Eagles stomp the Pats.

If Macca's tour is anywhere near me I'm taking my son.
