What's the correct case for a Cheyenne? Mine is a 1995 and did not come with the original case when I bought it.

Any 4001/3 case will work. But if you want exactly what it would have had, they may have been using the SKB by '95. And you are in luck on that..........

That's why I posted. I saw that and wanted to make sure before I plunked down the money. The case I have is a standard hardshell; nothing fancy, but I like the Ric SKB case better. I have one of those for my 4003 and it looks like it's built like a tank.
Thanks.

"Are you volumeboy on Ebay?"
The one and only! It goes back to my days with a Strat and a 100w Rivera amp. Loudest guitar combo amp I ever played.

The newer SKB cases made for Rick basses are not as good as the ones from a few years ago. basses fit in the older ones nice and tight. The new ones do not have enough padding in them, the bass can move around in the case way too much.

Interesting you should say that. I have this problem with a Bass case, (see 4000 Series Case posting). I assumed this was due to shipping damage. I guess I should buy a vintage reissue case when I replace it.

Brian, where was the damage on your bass?

On the lower edge right under the control knob.
(right handed bass)

Brian, how does the damage on your bass caused by the case compare to the damage on my bass caused by the new case?
Here is the damage on my bass caused by the new SKB case:

Well I'm assuming the case caused it as it does not fit and the damage was there when I received it. The seller (dealer) said it was ok when shipped. However I guess it could have been opened somewhere in the customs process.
The damage is as follows:
It actually looks a little worse than the picture shows. I guess when I replace the case I will go with a vintage reissue as I recall reading a few months ago on the forum about another bass with damage in the same area.

The damage happens because the padding is too thin in that area and if the box is handled rough or dropped, the bass compresses the padding into the rivets that hold the hinge on to the case.
That is how I received my 4004/5Cii when it came new.
