I admire David's ingenuity to get what he wants. Good luck Dave!

Want ads or trades

Listings advertising a desire to buy or trade items are not allowed.

Policy: All listings with want ads or trades are not permitted and will be ended, except for listings within the Non-Binding Bid Category.. The insertion fee will be automatically credited for that listing.

Out of respect for a fellow Forumite, I will not report this violation to eBay. However, I would appreciate it if he would pull the auction voluntarily. There are enough rules violations on eBay without "one of us" contributing to the problem.

I always felt that Ebay should have offer to buy listings as well as sell anyway. to me it's a minor infraction. Ebay probably doesn't like it cuz they can't collect enough fees.

I agree with your assessment, Marc, it's a matter of money (i.e., eBay profits), with the proviso that want ads would be also yet another venue for the con artists.

Update: eBay now has a section for posting Want Ads. Here's a link:

I have not looked to see how eBay profits from this, but they obviously must.
