Ringo's Drumming on I Feel Fine

I was listening to "I Feel Fine" today and wondered if Ringo did the drumming in one take or if he added the tom on a second take. Any comments from the drummers who play this beat?

Peter, his approach to the song changed as the session progressed; on that day's session(of which bootlegs exist)the drumming is pretty straight-forward on the first few attempts of the song....(Take 1 was actually in the key of 'A', which sounds interesting.) Take 8 was the backing track that was used for the record, and by that time the drum pattern had evolved to what we hear today. He played it all at the same time.

Our drummer plays it nightly. I love playing/singing that tune.

Definitely one of my favorite songs of all-time. Extremely fun to play on the guitar. Image

I love that song. I have heard some trib bands that can do it pretty good.

There wasn't a lot of overdubs in them days! And if there was, it would be for doubled vox, lead guitar, etc...

My music buddy is hard core Beatles and plays the drums. He does that beat exactly (along with a crapload of other early Beatles songs) without and extra help.

In the one or two actual live performance clips I've seen of IFF, Ringo seems to be playing the exact part, including the tom, with very little effort. I doubt he would have had much trouble doing it in the studio.
